Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris: ALU) (NYSE: ALU), a communications solutions provider, announced on Monday that NewCore Wireless, a wholesale provider of wireless communications services, has selected the company to deploy a 3G Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) network.

The network is expected to offer NewCore's customers, sophisticated next-generation services such as advanced multimedia, high-speed mobile broadband, video sharing and mobile Internet access.

Under the contact Alcatel-Lucent will supply NewCore with its UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access Network (UTRAN), based on its multi-standard radio access solution, including radio network controllers, node B base stations and a flexible wireless network management system.

In addition, Alcatel-Lucent also will provide a comprehensive suite of professional services in conjunction with this expansion contract, including installation, commissioning, program management, on-site training, network rollout and integration.
