Sierra Wireless and Wavecom collaborate on first technology

Sierra Wireless (Nasdaq:SWIR) (TSX: SW) and Wavecom (Euronext:AVM) (Paris:AVM) (Nasdaq:WVCM), a provider of embedded wireless technology for M2M (machine-to-machine) communication and wholly owned by Sierra, announced today (30 March) that the companies are collaborating on their first technology, a network-connected EVDO Fastrack Extreme EVDO concept.

The Fastrack Extreme EVDO product concept reportedly displays how wireless broadband can benefit emerging M2M markets requiring high speed connectivity. The Fastrack's ease-of-use enables the rapid deployment of a broad range of applications, including; video surveillance security systems, multimedia kiosks, navigation database synchronisation and broadcast feeds among others, the companies said.

This technology will be displayed as a streaming video of the CTIA show floor over the Internet using an integrated Sierra Wireless MC5727 PCI Express Mini Card.

The Sierra Wireless MC5727 EVDO Rev. A embedded module can be found in use countless connected computing devices throughout North America.
