Tokheim Corporation announces expansion of Ruby supersystem network capabilities
Business Wire, Dec 13, 1994
FORT WAYNE, Ind.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 13, 1994--Tokheim Corporation (NYSE: TOK), today announced the expansion of the capabilities of its mid-range POS (Point-Of-Sale) product offering, introduced earlier this year, to now include Shell, Exxon, and Citgo credit card network certifications.
Douglas K. Pinner, president and chief executive officer of Tokheim stated: ``The expansion of our network capabilities is key to being able to provide multi-branded jobbers with a competitively priced POS system facilitating equipment standardization at all their stores while concurrently opening this market segment to our complete product line. This POS product, named Ruby, is produced for Tokheim by VeriFone, Inc.
``The alliance last year of Tokheim's distribution and service strengths with the technical excellence of VeriFone, the world's largest supplier of transaction terminals, created a formidable partnership that is attracting growing major brand support. We expect to add further networks to the Ruby in 1995 and look to the product line to generate meaningful revenue and added market penetration potential for all Tokheim products in 1995 and beyond.''
The mid-range POS market offers significant market opportunities for both POS (dispenser control, cash register, and credit card functionality) and sales of Dispenser Payment Terminals (DPTs) which require a POS system on a specific card processing network. The Ruby provides the vital link between DPTs and those networks.
Tokheim Corporation and its subsidiaries are principally engaged in the design and manufacture of electronic and mechanical petroleum dispensing marketing systems, including service station equipment, point-of-sale control systems, and card- and cash-activated transaction systems for customers around the world.
