Videoway Launches Two New Services: Parental Control And Instant Program Listings

MONTREAL--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 13, 1994--VIDEOTRON LTEE (ME, TSE: VDO ) Videoway multimedia services announced today the launch of two new products that will certainly win favour with subscribers: parental control and instant program listings.

Parental Control

The parental control service allows parents to block children's access to selected cable TV channels, TV programs or squares of the Videoway menu in order to restrict their viewing.

Using a Personal Identification Number (PIN), it is possible to block off a channel or menu square, including video game squares and access to Pay-per-View TV.

This new service gives parents total control of their television set and helps them provide the kind of education and guidance they want to give their children.

TV EXPRESS

The new TV EXPRESS service from Videoway converts the television screen into an instant program listing. Viewers simply press the "I" button on a Videoway remote control to activate TV EXPRESS, which displays the title of the show in progress along with the titles and times of the next two programs scheduled on the channel being viewed. TV EXPRESS also allows access to the same information for all other channels when viewers use arrows to smith from one channel to the next, while retaining the picture and sound of the channel first selected. The new service also provides a brief summary of the show in progress by simply pressing one of the remote control buttons.

TV EXPRESS is convenient and easy to use.

Videoway "Stroke of Genius" Contest

With the goal of developing even more popular new services, Videoway is launching the "Stroke of Genius" contest to gather ideas from subscribers. Subscribers who communicate their suggestions for new services to Videoway become eligible to win a $750 television set in a random drawing.

Videoway will screen all suggestions and implement the ones that are technically and economically feasible while also meeting popular demand.

The "Stroke of Genius" entry forms must be received by Videotron Ltee before February 28, 1995. The drawing will be held on March 10.
