Higher rates approved for APS unit

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 15, 1994--Allegheny Power System Inc. today reported that the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission has granted its subsidiary, West Penn Power Co., increases in electric rates that will result in about $57.3 million in additional revenues on an annual basis.
The Commission authorized a return on equity of 11.5%.
Most of the additional revenues will be used for costs associated with new environmental equipment required by the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990.
West Penn Power provides electric service to more than 646,000 customers in central and southwestern Pennsylvania.
