European Commission decides not to proceed with antitrust investigation at Akzo Nobel Chemicals

Business Wire, Dec 2, 1994

ARNHEM, The Netherlands--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 2, 1994--The European Commission has informed Akzo Nobel Chemicals (NASDAQ:AKZOY) that it will not start an investigation into the alleged violation of the antitrust law, concerning Akzo Nobel's activities in the European salt market.

Without previous announcement, in October last year an EC Inspection team visited a number of Akzo locations, taking away documents. The commission has now concluded that the results of its investigation--including the documents in question--do not give cause for further actions against Akzo Nobel Chemicals.

Akzo Nobel, headquartered in the Netherlands, is one of the world's leading companies in selected areas of chemicals, coatings, healthcare products and fibers. More than 70,000 people in over 50 countries make up the Akzo Nobel work force.
