Entry into interior design career focus of UCSC Extension's Interior Design Assistant certificate

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 20, 1994--Those interested in entering the interior design profession are the audience for the Interior Design Assistant Certificate offered by UCSC Extension.

The program provides a basic understanding of the skills required to enter the field of interior design in positions assisting designers and other support positions within design firms.

Core courses offered Winter Quarter include: Interior Design Overview, an examination of the elements and principles of design, meets Jan. 21-22; Introduction to Interior Design, a holistic view of residential planning, design, and interior furnishings, meets Tuesdays, Jan. 24-March 28; and Interior Design Process and Space Planning, an exploration of the process of interior design development from client interview to final presentation, meets Wednesdays, Jan. 18-March 22.

Winter Quarter electives include Introduction to Lighting and The Use of Color in Interior Design. A special course, The English House and Garden: 18th Century, presented by internationally-known authors and lecturers, Alan and Ann Gore, will be offered March 4-5.

UCSC Extension's certificate programs are sequential series of core courses and electives. Courses can be taken individually as well as part of the certificate program. Courses meet at UCSC Extension, 3120 De La Cruz Blvd. (Trimble at 101) in Santa Clara and The English House and Garden: 18th Century course meets in Santa Cruz.
