Phoenix Advanced Technology telecommunications subsidiary to provide prepaid calling card services for Summit of the Americas Host Committee

GAINESVILLE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 7, 1994--Phoenix Advanced Technology Inc. (NASDAQ:PATI) announced that its telecommunications subsidiary, Global TeleMedia Inc., has been selected to provide prepaid calling card services for the Summit of the Americas Host Committee.

This global event is to be held in Miami Dec. 9-12. President Clinton and Vice President Gore will host the heads of state of 34 democratic nations within the West Hemisphere.

Additionally, Global TeleMedia and SkyTel, a division of Mobile Communications Technologies, are providing numeric and text messaging services for the host committee and U.S. State Department as well as those in attendance requiring wireless paging communications. SkyTel's recent addition of the Southern and Central American markets has greatly increased wireless communications throughout the hemisphere.

Global TeleMedia has become a significant player in the enhanced services telecommunications environment. Recent phone card programs include Barons Jewelers, Venture Stores, Whitmark, Alamo Rental Cars, ACME Stores, SmithKline Beecham, Citizens Watch, and Hills Science Diet.
