Adobe Systems announces new family of value-priced desktop publishing products for consumer market; Adobe QuickPublish products yield high-end desktop publishing results with easy-to-use interface
Business Wire, Nov 1, 1994
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 1, 1994--Adobe Systems Incorporated (NASDAQ:ADBE) today announced a new line of Macintosh desktop publishing (DTP) programs from its consumer products group (formerly the Aldus Consumer Division) that let novice computer users create professional-looking results without the learning curve normally associated with DTP software.
The Adobe QuickPublish product family features three programs for both personal and business use that automatically create letterhead and forms; brochures and flyers; and cards and invitations. Each Adobe QuickPublish product offers consumers a complete solution--intelligent templates, fonts, clip art, and specialty papers--providing everything needed to quickly create great looking documents.
All Adobe QuickPublish software packages will have an estimated street price of $29 each and are expected to be available in January 1995 from Adobe Resellers, any retail outlet that carries consumer software and directly from Adobe.
Professional-quality documents can be created by anyone
With the Adobe QuickPublish products, producing professionally designed letters, forms, brochures, flyers, or cards is quick and easy. Based on Adobe Home Publisher, an award-winning consumer DTP product, Adobe QuickPublish software uses the same "AutoCreate" capability to lead users through an "interview" process for creating documents.
The interview presents a series of easy-to-understand screens that offer a variety of layout and design choices. Once the interview is complete, the Adobe QuickPublish product family applies the choices to assemble a complete, ready to print document.
"These products have been tailored to consumers' specialized needs and offer a new level of automation at a very attractive price," Bruce Chizen, vice president of Adobe's consumer products group, said. "The Adobe QuickPublish product line is another example of how we are leveraging sophisticated technology and making it extremely easy to use."
"We believe that creating consumer software does not have to mean providing reduced functionality at a reduced price. With our products, it means easy access to the same advanced technology found in high-end products, without the steep learning curve," Chizen continued.
