Hal Cogger elected president, C. Herbert Emilson elected vice chairman of The Colonial Group

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 1, 1994--The Colonial Group Inc. directors have announced that Harold W. Cogger has been elected president of The Colonial Group, the Boston-based family of mutual funds.
Cogger is currently a director The Colonial Group and president of its Colonial Management Associates Inc. subsidiary. He joined Colonial in 1983 and is a member of the Executive Committee. He was named executive vice president of Colonial Management Associates in 1989 and president in 1993.
Before joining Colonial, Cogger was a managing director for Specialized Investment Disciplines, a consulting firm specializing in sales and marketing for institutional money managers. He is a former senior vice president at Fidelity Investments.
Cogger is a member of the Board of Governors at the Investment Company Institute and was recently elected chairman of the Research Committee of the ICI.
C. Herbert Emilson, currently president of The Colonial Group, has been named to the newly-created position of vice chairman. Emilson joined Colonial as executive vice president in 1981, and was elected president in 1983.
The Colonial Group Inc. (NASDAQ:COGRA), was founded in 1931, and manages $14 billion in assets for more than 800,000 investors. To meet a wide range of investment goals, Colonial offers a complete family of open-end and closed-end mutual funds. Colonial announced on Oct. 13 a definitive agreement to merge with Liberty Financial.
