Business Objects endorses Sybase data warehouse framework; Business Objects and Sybase give end users accelerated access to data
Business Wire, Nov 29, 1994
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 29, 1994--Business Objects announced Monday support for Sybase's data warehouse approach to enhanced data access.
BusinessObjects, the business intelligent decision support solution, ideally complements Sybase's data warehouse strategy by providing non technical end-users intuitive access to data stored in Sybase databases. In an announcement today, Sybase unveiled a data warehouse solution specifically designed for a client/server environment, which integrates best-of-breed Sybase and third-party products to provide customers with superior distributed data access. Since August 1994, BusinessObjects has been the standard end-user tool used by Sybase for internal data warehouse projects.
``We are very excited by Sybase's vision of end-user data access and management requirements,'' said Perry Mizota, vice president of marketing at Business Objects. ``Sybase and Business Objects shares a commitment to fulfilling the promise of client/server architectures by moving information and processing power to the end-user. The Sybase data warehousing framework provides a pragmatic structure to provide anywhere, anytime access to decision support data, and Business Objects provides the best solution for end-users who want it flexible, ad-hoc query capability,'' Mizota concluded.
Sybase's client/server data warehouse framework is built around the IQ Accelerator, a transparent extension to the Sybase SQL Server that has advanced indexing capabilities and performs ad-hoc queries two- to 1000-times faster than SQL-Server alone. This greatly increased processing speed will allow end-users using BusinessObjects in data warehouse environments to access information in an ad-hoc fashion and receive reliable results at a greatly accelerated speed.
BusinessObjects complements the Sybase data warehouse solution because of its innovative Business-Intelligent Querying approach, which allows non-technical end-users to intuitively query, report and analyze data stored in data warehouses by allowing users to interact with business terms, rather than with the tables and columns of database structures.
