Seagate Appoints Ellen Chamberlain Vice President Of Finance And Treasurer

SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 30, 1994--Seagate Technology today announced that Ellen E. Chamberlain has been promoted to vice president, Finance and Treasurer. In this position Ms. Chamberlain succeeds Charles Pope who has been appointed vice president, Media Operations reporting to Ron Verdoorn, senior vice president, Manufacturing. In her new role, Ms. Chamberlain will have responsibility for corporate accounting, treasury, credit, collections, and the media finance operation, and she will maintain her financial role for Seagate's corporate development activities. She will continue to report to Donald L. Waite, senior vice president and chief financial officer.
During her nine years with Seagate, Ms. Chamberlain has held a variety of executive positions within the Company's Finance organization. She joined Seagate in 1985 with the Company's acquisition of Grenex, Inc., a manufacturer of rigid magnetic discs, where she was director of Finance Operations. In 1989, Ms. Chamberlain joined Seagate's Corporate Finance Organization as director of Corporate Accounting, increasing her scope of responsibility to include external financial reporting, stock administration and general accounting. Appointed senior director of Finance in 1994 supporting the Company's corporate development efforts, Ms. Chamberlain was instrumental in the negotiations involved with the acquisitions of software developers Crystal Services, Inc. and Palindrome Corporation, as well as Seagate's equity investment in speech recognition leader Dragon Systems.
Prior to joining Seagate, Ms. Chamberlain held a 6-year association with Ernst & Young, where she held management positions within the company's auditing division.

Ms. Chamberlain, 38, holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bowling Green State University, and an MBA from the University of Santa Clara.
