Rational promotes Joe Marasco to vice president and general manager of programming tools business unit

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 10, 1995--Rational Software Corporation announced today the promotion of Joe Marasco to vice president and general manager of the company's programming tools business unit. In his new position, Marasco has full product-line responsibility, including development and marketing, of Rational's programming tools, which include Rational Apex, an integrated, team-oriented, software-engineering environment, and the VADS line of compilers and cross-compilers.
Marasco has more than 25 years of experience in developing, managing, and marketing complex software systems. He joined Rational in 1986 as a product manager. Since then, he has held various positions in the company, including director of product marketing, cofounder and director of Rational's consulting services, development director of Rational's programming-environment product line, and founder and technical director of Celera, a joint venture with CelsiusTech Systems AB in Sweden.
Marasco holds a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the Cooper Union, a master's degree in physics from State University of New York at Stony Brook, and a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Geneva, Switzerland.
