Business Wire, April 4, 1995
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 4, 1995--Sun Microsystems' SPARC Technology Business today announced the appointment of Samuel T. Spadafora as vice president of worldwide sales.
"By the end of 1996, we will have doubled the performance and scope of our processor, board and chipset portfolio," stated Chet Silvestri, president of Sun's SPARC Technology Business. "Sam has 25 years of executive sales management experience, a solid track record in producing results and innovative strategies to penetrate high-growth markets. His team will not only strengthen our current OEM partner relationships, but will aggressively forge new relationships in markets where SPARC currently has limited presence. Document and medical imaging, communications and even entertainment are obvious examples of the kind of markets where we can leverage the advanced performance and powerful new capabilities found in our newest microprocessor, UltraSPARC."
Spadafora brings to his new post more than 30 years of high-technology sales and sales management experience. He served as The Santa Cruz Operation Inc.'s (Scotts Valley, Calif.) senior vice president and general manager of field operations. He also held positions as senior vice president of sales and marketing for Altos Computer Systems (San Jose, Calif.) and vice president of U.S. sales operations for Memorex (Santa Clara, Calif.). Spadafora holds a Bachelor's degree in Marketing from Eastern Michigan University.
SPARC Technology Business, a division of Sun Microsystems Inc., was formed in April 1993 to develop, design and distribute SPARC technologies and products worldwide.
