Business Wire, April 5, 1995
ISLANDIA, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 5, 1995--4Home Productions, a Division of Computer Associates International, Inc., announced today that it has created a customized interface for Hewlett-Packard Company's first ever consumer PC line, the Multimedia 6100 Series. This interface, based upon HP's graphics and design, uses 4Home's Meta4(TM) technology to make the HP Multimedia PC easy to set up and use. It features engaging graphical characters that help users launch programs, manage files and simplify installation. HP's Multimedia PC, sporting its customized interface, is shipping with two of 4Home's popular lifestyle applications.
This customized interface provides HP Multimedia PC users with more control by offering complete support for organizing applications. Entertaining characters assist navigation by guiding users to such areas as finance, productivity and communications. In addition to allowing users to select sound effects, the interface facilitates installation of new programs by automatically searching for set-up commands and prompting confirmation.
Meta4 is an innovative multimedia development technology that empowers 4Home Productions to design true 3D image, object oriented, graphical environments for any market sector. This includes customized interfaces for personal computer manufacturers, banking institutions and other service industries.
"We're discussing the provision of customized interfaces for several personal computer manufacturers and we're pleased that HP is the first to offer consumers an interface created with 4Home Productions' Meta4 technology," said George Kafkarkou, general manager of 4Home Productions. "We've developed an intuitive interface that helps users enjoy the HP Multimedia PC and increases their productivity."
"The central features of our new consumer PCs are hassle-free set-up and ease-of-use," said Harry W. (Webb) McKinney, general manager of HP's Home Products Division. "With Meta4 technology, 4Home is helping us provide these key benefits through our unique user interface."
