FOX Broadcasting launches Web Site

Business Wire, August 15, 1995

always in the forefront in creating hip, energetic entertainment and educational programming, has once again taken the industry lead by creating original interactive video and design elements for its just-launched World Wide Web Site, FOX WORLD.

With sizzling graphics, 3-D tours, QuickTime VR and download capabilities, FOX is the first of the networks to create this caliber of material specifically for the Web.

The site's three main components, FOX Entertainment, FOX Kids Network and FOX Sports, offer users the ability to interact with their favorite characters from FOX shows, play Fantasy Football against FOX sport talent, and have their children learn while they are being entertained.

"We consider ourselves innovators in developing programming that viewers respond to on many different levels. FOX WORLD is an extension of our exciting, dynamic and evolving programming. We will continue to expand our capabilities to provide a variety of choices and levels of interactive entertainment and education," said John P. Roberts, director of FOX Interactive Entertainment.

"We see FOX WORLD as the beginning of an evolution in our programming and in our communication with our viewers."

Roberts emphasized that FOX is committed to keeping its Web Site updated with new features and activities as well as developing ways for the Web user to interact with his or her favorite shows.

The FOX Entertainment location not only provides show schedules and information, but also access to live chat rooms with FOX talent, bulletin boards and "FOX Rocks," a showcase for music that's "FOX" hot. Log on to the "FOX Favorites" site to visit MELROSE PLACE for a virtual 3-D tour of the famous apartment complex, or drop in on THE SIMPSONS.

In addition, the line-up of new shows debuting on FOX this fall will provide a backdrop for a variety of interactive opportunities. Like the characters on SPACE: ABOVE AND BEYOND, users can join the Space Marine Corps in a battle against aliens.

The FOX Kids Network is a unique area that will entertain fans with inside information about all of the top-rated Fox Kids shows, including MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS, X-MEN and SPIDER-MAN, as well as provide an opportunity to interact with popular characters such as THE TICK, EEK! THE CAT and Bobby of BOBBY'S WORLD.

The location will also feature highlights of past issues and sneak previews of upcoming articles from "Totally Kids," the official magazine of the Fox Kids Club, including on-line re-creations of some of the publication's most popular features, such as "Tick Talk," which gives fans an opportunity to ask questions of Saturday morning's most unusual super hero; and audio segments from Fox Kids national radio program, "Fox Kids Countdown," allowing fans to interact with the show's host, Chris Leary, and participate in the program by requesting their favorite songs on-line.

The FOX Sports location is the ultimate Web Site for all sports enthusiasts. With its exclusive agreements to be the network broadcaster for the NFL's National Football Conference Package and the National Hockey League, FOX has the capability to deliver the latest information, statistics and sports news on the Internet.

Users will have access to real-time news feeds; statistics on all teams and individual players for all sports; inside reports and hot tips on all the different teams and leagues; E-mail to FOX sports talent; live chats and more.

Since its inception in 1986, FOX Broadcasting has continued to create and provide viewers with exciting and unique programming through its 188 nationwide affiliates.
