Interactive Flight Technologies — Up, Up & Away!! In-Flight Entertainment System nets FAA STC certification based on Alitalia test flight

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--August 2, 1995--Interactive Flight Technologies'((NASDAQ: FLYTU) IFT) In-Flight Entertainment Network received FAA STC certification today.

Following extensive laboratory and ground testing, the system was tested on an Alitalia aircraft outfitted with the state of the art entertainment system during a one and a half hour test flight from Fiumicino to Sardinia, after which certification was granted by the FAA.

IFT's system features video-on-demand from a selection of more than 30 digitized feature films and other programming. One of the most widely heralded aspects of the system is its coupling of state of the art video gaming technology and computer networking to create a first of its kind, secure casino-style gaming system.

Earlier this year, the Department of Transportation's (DOT) interpretation of recent legislation regarding casino style gambling on foreign carriers, coupled with today's FAA STC certification, paves the way for IFT to aggressively market and sell its system to carriers around the world.
