CompuAdd ships Microsoft Windows 95
Business Wire, August 24, 1995
AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 24, 1995--CompuAdd Computer Corporation today announced that it's entire line of PCs and notebooks are capable of shipping with Microsoft Windows 95. Microsoft Corporation and CompuAdd have been working closely together since the early development of Windows 95 to ensure hardware compatibility and the best possible computing solutions. The Windows 95 logo assures customers that all CompuAdd systems are not only compatible with Windows 95, but are designed to take advantage of all the extensive features built into Windows 95.
"CompuAdd has been a Beta site for Windows 95 and worked closely with Microsoft for the past two years to ensure that CompuAdd's products can be pre-installed with the new operating system and ready to use right out of the box," said Rick Krause, CompuAdd's president and CEO. "We have a trained sales and technical staff to ensure full support for our customers as they transition to the new system," Krause said.
"Microsoft is very pleased that CompuAdd PCs and notebooks passed Windows 95 testing and qualify for the Windows 95 logo," said Gregg Smith, Microsoft's OEM manager. "By passing rigorous Windows 95 logo testing, CompuAdd customers are assured they are receiving a totally integrated high-performance computing solution. CompuAdd developed its PCs in accordance with Plug and Play specifications advanced by Intel, Phoenix Technologies and Microsoft as well as Microsoft's Hardware Design Guide for Windows 95."
Windows 95 comprises a system that is faster and easier to use, and is network capable. It is a fully integrated 32-bit, preemptive multitasking operating system, replaces Windows 3.11, Windows for Workgroups 3.11, and MS-DOS as the mainstream desktop operating system. Windows 95 includes many new and advanced features, including Plug and Play, 32-bit performance, a more intuitive user interface, long filenames, built-in networking capabilities, support for mobile computing, AutoPlay, and increased system reliability. Plug and Play allows CompuAdd customers to easily add new peripherals and devices without modifying any system or software components, and AutoPlay allows CD-ROM programs to install and play themselves automatically.
