Symbol Technologies bundles full complement of software products from CIC

Business Wire, August 28, 1995

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 28, 1995--(OTC Bulletin Board: CICI), Communication Intelligence Corporation (CIC) announced the signing of an expanded worldwide licensing agreement with Symbol Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:SBL). CIC's PenDOS(r) and Handwriter(r) Recognition System for Windows(r) will be bundled on every PPT 4600 system shipped. INKshrINK(tm), CIC's own proprietary electronic ink compression technology will also be included, for the first time.

INKshrINK is CIC's fast and efficient electronic ink compression technology. Responding to customer needs, Symbol is the first OEM to deploy INKshrINK. Symbol sees INKshrINK's benefit of reducing data storage requirements and transmission cost as a major plus for its customers. Historically any type of ink data input, such as capturing signatures, note taking, and drawings, consumed precious disk space. INKshrINK allows for a significant reduction in disk storage consumption, typically 10:1, and the ability to recall original data, in the blink of an eye, with minimal system overhead.

"We are pleased to expand our offering to Symbol. As a leader in the hand-held computer market, Symbol understands the need for robust technology such as CIC's consumer proven Handwriter Recognition System. The addition of INKshrINK is an example of Symbol's commitment to excel in the rapidly expanding, wireless, mobile data communications market," said Michael McFarland, CIC's President and COO.

"The PPT 4600 is a strategic product for Symbol. By complementing this offering with CIC's software products, we are offering our customers the best the industry has to offer in both hardware and software," said Jan H. Lindelow, President and COO of Symbol Technologies.
