Goody's Family Clothing Announces August Sales Results

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--August 31, 1995--Goody's Family Clothing, Inc. (Nasdaq/NM:GDYS) today reported sales for the month of August 1995 of $62.1 million compared with August 1994 sales of $53.4 million, an increase of 16.3%. On a comparable store basis, sales for August increased 3.3% from a year ago.
For the seven months ended August 26, 1995, sales increased 16.8% to $362.2 million from $310.1 million during the same period last year. Comparable store sales for the seven months ended August 26, 1995, increased 2.3% from the same period in the prior year.
With headquarters in Knoxville, Tennessee, Goody's Family Clothing, Inc. is a retailer of moderately priced fashion apparel for women, men and children. At the end of August, the Company operated 178 stores in the 14 states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.
