Martin Marietta Materials, Inc. Announces Strike Settlement

RALEIGH, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--August 8, 1995--Martin Marietta Materials, Inc. (NYSE:MLM) today announced the settlement of a two- month strike at its Magnesia Specialties Division's Manistee, Michigan, plant. Stephen P. Zelnak, Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer of Martin Marietta Materials, Inc., commented, "We believe that the new contract is fair to our employees while increasing operational efficiencies and improving our long-term competitiveness in Magnesia Specialties' markets. We expect our Manistee, Michigan, plant to resume full operations within the next week."
Martin Marietta Materials is the nation's second largest producer of construction aggregates and a leading producer of magnesia-based chemical and refractory products used in a wide variety of industries.
