Pixel Translations and Adobe Sign Contract; Pixel Provides Scan Solution for Adobe's Acrobat Capture

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 1, 1995--Pixel Translations, Incorporated, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cornerstone Imaging, Inc., and leading supplier of document image processing software development tools, today announced that Adobe Systems Incorporated signed an agreement under which Pixel Translations will license their scanner toolkit to Adobe, for Adobe's Acrobat Capture software.
With the scanner toolkit, Acrobat Capture provides users with access to the unique functionality of up to 120 different scanners and many popular scanner interface cards.

The PixTools/Scan toolkit, based on ISIS. the Image and Scanner Interface Specification, allows up to 120 different scanner models to be supported by Acrobat Capture. The toolkit is designed to optimize the performance and functionality of each individual scanner and scanner interface card. With this advanced, open scan solution, users select the scanner which best meets the requirements for scanning their unique document-types, whether they are scanning photographic, multi-toned, double-sided, or non-standard sized documents.

Acrobat Capture provides a significant improvement in OCR s ability to recognize a page and provides both graphic and textual elements in a single file," stated Francis.
