Robert W. Decherd elected to Kimberly-Clark's board of directors

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Dec. 1, 1995--Robert W. Decherd, president, chief executive officer and chairman of the board of A.H. Belo Corporation, has been elected to the board of directors of Kimberly-Clark Corporation. His election increases the number of directors to 13.

Mr. Decherd, 44, joined A.H. Belo, a national publishing and broadcasting company, in 1973 after graduating from Harvard College. He has been a director of that company since 1976. He served as chief operating officer from 1984 to 1986 and as president from 1985 to 1987, when he was elected chairman of the board and chief executive officer. He assumed the title president again in 1993. Based in Dallas, A.H. Belo owns and operates newspapers and network-affiliated television stations in seven U.S. metropolitan areas.

Mr. Decherd is a director and member of the executive committee of the Newspaper Association of America and is a past president of the Dallas Society of Professional Journalists. A native of Dallas, he is an active leader in numerous civic organizations, including his current role as chairman of a capital and endowment campaign for Paul Quinn College in Dallas.

Kimberly-Clark is a manufacturer of household, personal care and health care products, as well as newsprint and premium business and correspondence papers. The company's well-known consumer products include Huggies diapers, Huggies Pull-Ups training pants, Pull-Ups GoodNites disposable underpants, Huggies baby wipes, Kleenex facial tissue, Kleenex bathroom tissue, Kotex and New Freedom feminine care products, Hi-Dri household towels and Depend and Poise incontinence care products.
