The National Parenting Center is a California-based organization that tests hundreds of products each year submitted in eight different categories. In 1994, only 126 products received the seal out of nearly 1,000 submitted. In judging for the Seal of Approval, the Center employs an independent testing procedure that critiques products for their level of appeal, desirability, sturdiness and interactive stimulation. Judges for the award include parents and educators who make their evaluations based on the reactions of children interacting with the programs.
The Great Word Adventure teaches essential language skills for children ages 6 to 9 years old, including synonyms, antonyms, homonyms, alphabetization, letter and word recognition, categorization, compound words, rhymes, capitalization and problem solving. The title has over 10,000 frames of feature-film quality animation, original music, engaging dialog and features a customizable database of more than 2,500 words, five self-adjusting skill levels and performance certificates that reward children for a job well done.
The Great Word Adventure is packaged with a free activity book to enhance skills taught in the program, and starting in mid-December children can pick up an additional booklet with new activities from their local retailers for free. The title has an average street price of $39.99 and is compatible with Windows(R) 95 and 3.1.
This holiday season marks the beginning of a unique promotion with Chuck E. Cheese's(R) Pizza to create a special added value offer for parents who purchase The Great Word Adventure or TuneLand. Future plans for 7th Level and Chuck E. Cheese's include in-store promotions with retailers.
