Vernon Oechsle named CEO of Quanex, James Davis named COO

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 19, 1995--Quanex Corp. (NYSE:NX) Tuesday announced that Vernon E. Oechsle has been named president and chief executive officer and James H. Davis has been appointed executive vice president and chief operating officer, effective Jan. 1, 1996, upon the retirement of Robert C. Snyder as chief executive officer.
Oechsle, 53, previously served as chief operating officer of Quanex and was named president in March 1995. He joined the company in 1993 after serving as executive vice president and chief executive officer for the Automotive Sector of Allied-Signal Inc.
Davis, 60, joined Quanex in September 1995 as executive vice president, manufacturing operations. He previously was president and chief executive officer of Horsehead Resources Development Company Inc.
Snyder, 62, who served as chief executive officer since 1992, announced his intention to retire from daily management of Quanex in March 1995, when he was appointed chairman of the board of directors. He will remain as chairman after his retirement.

Quanex is a technological leader in the manufacture of steel and aluminum specialized metal products for the transportation, capital equipment, home building and remodeling, and energy processing markets.
