Security Dynamics awarded U.S. patent for fast, secure data transfer on the Internet
Business Wire, Dec 26, 1995
CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 26, 1995-- Security Dynamics Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: SDTI), a leading provider of network and computer security solutions, announced that today it was issued U.S. Patent No. 5,479,512 by the U.S. Patent Office for Concryption (TM) technology, a process that combines data compression and data encryption technologies in a single integrated series of operations.
Concryption is designed to significantly reduce the amount of time it takes business users to send compressed information over the Internet in an encrypted form. By integrating data compression and data encryption, functions that traditionally had been done separately, the technology enhances information privacy and data integrity while simultaneously reducing transmission time, CPU overhead and data storage space. When the technology is used with integrated public key encryption, the identity of the sender and recipient can be assured.
"The technology encompassed by this patent could become important in the information age," said Kenneth Weiss, Chairman and Chief Technical Officer at Security Dynamics. "I believe that Concryption is an enabling concept technology which could affect the way that data from various sources, including telecommunications, the Internet and satellites, are communicated in the future."
"This patent is one of a group of collateral patents, issued and pending, developed during the process of enhancing and protecting our core technology, which Security Dynamics may make available for license by third parties," said Charles Stuckey, President and CEO of Security Dynamics.
