"Informix's key Web partnerships are essential for our customers' success in building interactive Web sites."
Informix and its Web Technology Partners will develop joint marketing and technical alliances to enable customers to build dynamic, interactive Web sites. Informix has formed partnerships with Web technology providers in the following key technology and services areas critical to successful deployment of Web sites:
-- Web Browsers -- As a platform for interactivity, Informix's database works with all industry-standard web browsers such as Netscape Navigator, NSCA Mosaic, and Spyglass Mosaic.
-- Web Tools -- Informix Web Interface Kits, available free on Informix's Web site, provide a method to produce dynamic HTML pages by adapting existing INFORMIX-4GL and INFORMIX-ESQL applications to the Web. Informix customers can also take advantage of Java, Sun Microsystems' object oriented secure programming language to automate routine database activity. Informix's support of JavaScript, Netscape's open, cross-platform scripting language, allows customers the ability to link together objects and resources on both clients and servers.
"Informix's OnLine Dynamic Server is being integrated with four of our leading Internet Applications," said Jim Sha, vice president at Netscape. "Informix's powerful parallel-processing database server enables Netscape customers to build applications so that they can take advantage of business opportunities over the Web."
-- WebServers -- Informix's database is supported by all Web Servers including Apache, CERN, Netscape, and OpenMarket.
-- Applications -- Applications are available to solve specific business problems such as help desk, customer care, human resource and electronic commerce. Netscape is integrating Informix's database with its Internet applications: Netscape Merchant System, Netscape Publishing System, Netscape Community System, and Netscape IStore.
Corporate Database Integration -- Database connectivity to the enterprise is critical to building interactive Web applications. Informix has teamed with best-in-class integrators such as Bluestone, Inc., net.Genesis, Spider Technologies and VPE, Inc. who enable application developers to create Web/database applications quickly and easily, through a drag and drop user interface.
Consulting -- In this emerging market small content boutiques and the traditional consulting firms are critical to deploy interactive Web solutions. Informix's strong value-added reseller (VAR) program includes leading Web developers such as Internet Media Services and Spiralinks. -0-
