Business Wire, Feb 10, 1995

SANTA CRUZ, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 10, 1995--SCO (NASDAQ: SCOC), the leading supplier of business-critical UNIX server and host systems, Friday announced the integration of the IXI and Visionware field operations.

The merged organization will report into SCO's geographical Americas and Europe and International organizations. The move positions SCO, IXI and Visionware to better leverage their combined strengths, and to supply SCO customers worldwide with cross-platform, client/server solutions for integrating Windows desktops and UNIX servers.

SCO in 1993 introduced its Windows Friendly strategy to combine the strengths and user benefits of Windows PCs and UNIX servers in integrated solutions. SCO's 1993 acquisition of IXI Ltd. advanced the strategy by adding key server-side technologies for Windows desktop and UNIX server integration. The 1994 acquisition of Visionware added key client-side technologies running on Windows PCs.

"Historically, SCO has had very strong market share and core competence in Business Critical Servers," said Alok Mohan, SCO president and chief operating officer. "With our acquisitions of IXI and Visionware, it is clear that SCO now has the strength to achieve compelling market share in both server software and cross-platform solutions that integrate Windows desktops and UNIX servers. For SCO, this is a time of expanding opportunity and fulfilling the promise of the Windows Friendly vision that we introduced to the industry in 1993."

The IXI and Visionware sales organizations will report into SCO's field operations headed by Ed Adams, general manager and senior vice president for the Americas geography and Bernard Hulme, managing director and senior vice president for the European and International geography.

According to Mohan, the consolidation of the Visionware and IXI product lines is currently in process and details will be announced at a later date.

Businesses and governments worldwide use SCO Business Critical Servers to run their critical operations, accessing and distributing information across local and global boundaries and networks. SCO's mission is to continue leading the growth of this important new market by delivering the most robust system software for Business Critical Servers. SCO is recognized worldwide as the leading supplier of UNIX System servers and multiuser hosts (source: IDC).
