Business Wire, Feb 13, 1995
BURLINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 13, 1995--Shiva Corporation, the leading developer of remote access products, today announced the promotions of Maria A. Cirino to senior director of sales and Carol Meyers to director of sales channels and planning. Cirino and Meyers were instrumental in increasing sales of Shiva's LanRover remote access server product line and expanding Shiva's Premium VAR channel and service and support programs.
"Maria and Carol have established unique distribution and value-added reseller channels for our remote access solutions that have enabled us to grow rapidly and support customers in a high quality way," said Woody Benson, vice president of sales and marketing at Shiva. "We have a very comprehensive strategy that best meets the needs of our company, customers and reseller partners."
Ms. Cirino will be responsible for North American field sales and channel sales. Cirino was promoted from director of channel sales, where she was responsible for the company's transition from a Macintosh-based channel model to a value-added internetworking channel. Shiva's Premium VAR channel was established one year ago and now represents over 25 percent of Shiva's total business. Ms. Cirino joined Shiva in 1993 from Lotus Development Corporation, where she was a group manager of the Word Processing Division.
As director of sales channels and planning, Ms. Meyers will be responsible for managing all Shiva sales channels efforts including distribution, VARs, education and inside sales, sales planning, pre-sales and database management.
Prior to her promotion, Meyers served as Shiva's director of sales planning, during which she implemented programs and sales plans contributing to over 100 percent growth in revenue for the company's remote access products. Prior to joining Shiva Corporation in 1992, Meyers held the positions of product marketing manager for the graphics group and sales planning manager at Lotus Development Corporation.
Both Cirino and Meyers have also played key roles in creating Shiva's customer service and support programs by ensuring VARs would benefit from these programs. Shiva and its authorized resellers offer Shiva Response, a suite of pre- and post-sale customer support programs. Customers can choose from a range of telephone and electronic support programs, and enhanced hardware protection and repair services. Other services available through Shiva Response include advanced design consulting; installation and deployment services; performance tuning; and a full range of education services.
