Ault Foods Limited denies that layoff of provisional workers was due to sluggish Lactantia PurFiltre ™ milk sales

Business Wire, Feb 27, 1995

ETOBICOKE, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 27, 1995--Ault Foods Ltd. (TSE, ME: AUL ) would like to correct a misconception that the provisional workforce layoff in the London Ontario plant was due to anything other than a reduction in commodity fluid milk sales.

This fluctuation in volume was solely caused by the decision of A&P to no longer stock Sealtest milk in Miracle Food Mart stores.

According to Graham Freeman, President and CEO of Ault Foods: "The sales volume of Lactantia PurFiltre milk was not the cause of this lay-off. In fact this new product is selling well in stores where it is distributed, averaging a 10 percent share in those stores. After six weeks we are well on our way to achieving our stated objective of 15 percent by the end of 12 months. Effective March 6th, with the addition of A&P stores, Miracle Food Mart, Dominion, SuperFresh and Save-A-Centre, availability of PurFiltre will be significantly improved in Ontario. Lactantia PurFiltre milk is well along the way to creating a new fluid milk category."
