LCC signs license agreement with Qualcomm; provides field measurement equipment and software planning tools for CDMA networks

ARLINGTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 3, 1995--LCC, L.L.C. Friday announced a license agreement with QUALCOMM Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM) that will allow LCC to provide both field measurement equipment and software planning tools for Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) network planning and optimization.
QUALCOMM developed a proprietary implementation of CDMA for use in wireless applications including mobile cellular, Personal Communications Services (PCS) and wireless local loop applications.
Under a new hardware licensing arrangement, LCC will integrate QUALCOMM's cellular and PCS CDMA phones into its line of field measurement products, which are utilized to evaluate and troubleshoot vehicular and pedestrian wireless environments.

"Becoming a QUALCOMM licensee allows us to provide products that meet the demands of a growing segment of the wireless marketplace that is embracing CDMA technology," said Mike Bonin, vice president of hardware products, LCC.
LCC has already begun implementation of QUALCOMM's IS-95 CDMA phones into its popular EXP 2001 (TM) system. The EXP 2001 enables operators to simultaneously monitor multiple technologies. CDMA functionality is also planned for the RSAT 2000 (R) and MSAT 2000 (TM) product lines.
In a related agreement, LCC will also offer QUALCOMM's QCPlan (TM) CDMA network planning tool in CellCAD (TM), LCC's Unix-based network engineering software platform. QCPlan will augment the CDMA network design capabilities already available in CellCAD.
