3COM'S LinkSwitch 2000 ATM, CELLplex 1200 and CELLplex 2000 receive Data Communications' "Hot Products" award
Business Wire, Jan 16, 1995
SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 16, 1995--3Com Corporation, the market leader in LAN switching, Monday announced it has won Data Communications' "Hot Products" award for its CELLplex and LinkSwitch Ethernet/ATM switching product family.
The award, announced in Data Communications' January 1995 issue, cites 3Com's products for premium switching performance at very competitive prices.
According to Data Communications, "What sets 3Com apart is that it switches all traffic as cells ... 3Com's cells-only scheme has given the vendor a formidable one-two punch, enabling it to cut production costs and still deliver premium performance."
The products honored by Data Communications include the LinkSwitch 2000 ATM, the CELLplex 1200 and the CELLplex 2000.
The LinkSwitch 2000 ATM is a 12-port Ethernet workgroup switch with an integrated Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) port for backbone or server connectivity. The switch is ideal for boosting performance for shared Ethernet segments, individual workstations and servers without requiring equipment upgrades at the desktop.
The CELLplex 1200 is an integrated, modular Ethernet/ATM switch for departmental collapsed backbone configurations in buildings, and for high-speed Ethernet connections to shared LAN segments, servers, and individual workstations.
The CELLplex 2000 is a high-performance, modular ATM switch designed to dramatically boost performance in building and campus backbones. The switch can interconnect 3Com LinkSwitch 2000 ATM workgroup switches or CELLplex 1200 departmental switches, or attach to high-performance end systems to create a seamless, high-speed Ethernet/ATM network.
