Brainstorm Technologies to develop software to link Lotus Notes and Delphi95
Business Wire, Jan 17, 1995
CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 17, 1995--Brainstorm Technologies, Inc., a pioneer in developing Lotus Notes connectivity solutions, today announced a tool that integrates Brainstorm's technology for accessing Lotus Notes data within Borland's new high performance application development environment, codenamed Delphi95, which is scheduled to ship in the first quarter of 1995.
The new tool, called Delphi/Link is a set of highly customized native links to Lotus Notes databases, integrated into Delphi95 object-oriented architecture. The seamless integration with Delphi95 will provide customers with advanced tools for building groupware applications.
Delphi/Link will set the standard for the next generation of groupware applications development while leveraging on existing corporate investments in client/server and Notes technology. It will provide tighter integration with Lotus Notes than similar products, enabling Delphi95 application developers to rapidly develop and deploy high performance applications that support hundreds of concurrent Lotus Notes users on an enterprise-wide level.
Delphi/Link is a set of highly customized native links to Lotus Notes databases, integrated into Delphi95 object-oriented architecture. "We are always looking for a way to assist our customers in their migration to a client/server environment," said Paul H. Gross, vice president and general manager of Borland Languages and Client/Server Business Unit. "We are very excited that Brainstorm is able to provide the power of Delphi95 to Lotus Notes users. The seamless integration with Delphi95 provides our customers with a head start in building groupware applications."
"In the past five years companies have invested millions of dollars in new 4GL application development tools alongside a client/server computing model," said Mitchell Liu, Chief Technology Officer for Brainstorm Technologies. "With the emergence of workgroup computing and Lotus Notes, organizations are faced with out-dated and inadequate tools for developing workflow, e-mail and group-enabled applications. We believe Delphi/Link for Lotus Notes can truly leverage existing organization's investments in Borland's tools and databases as well as the new generation of groupware platforms."
Delphi95 is an open, object-oriented high performance client/server application development environment. Delphi95 features a highly optimized compiler, capable of processing 350 thousand lines of code per minute, a state-of-the-art visual development environment, and scaleable database connectivity. This unique combination provides client/server developers with a fast, reliable way to build applications.
"I have built a Delphi95 application which is meant to talk to Notes and has already been deployed in a major accounting firm. The missing piece now is the link between Delphi95 and Lotus Notes," stated Michael Lent, Partner at Avalon Associates, a client/server consulting firm based in Mississauga, Ontario. "The application is for tracking people resource information and is currently integrated with Paradox tables. This same information needs to be updated in Notes databases, taking advantage of Notes replication for a wide-area distribution of data. These needs will be met with Delphi/Link and Delphi95, a powerful combination."
More than 1000 organizations are currently using the beta version of Delphi95 to build industrial strength applications.
