Kyocera Electronics unveils computer industry's first 600 d.p.i LED 18ppm printer; "Cartridge-free" FS-3600A page printer offers true 600 d.p.i. resolution with flexible networking and paper handling capabilities

SOMERSET, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 20, 1995--Kyocera Electronics Inc. today introduced the industry's first true 600 dots-per-inch (d.p.i.) light-emitting diode (LED) 18 page-per-minute printer (ppm) with the development of its second-generation 18ppm "cartridge-free" printer, the FS-3600A.
Using Kyocera Image Refinement(TM), the FS-3600A delivers a sharp 300 x 1200 d.p.i. resolution. A member of Kyocera's Ecosys family of "cartridge-free" page printers, the FS-3600A delivers a fast, upgradeable network printer with unprecedented flexibility and sophisticated paper handling capabilities. In addition, the FS-3600A yields the industry's lowest cost of operation at 0.7 cents per page.
The FS-3600A features optional support for AppleTalk interface, Ethernet board BNC/UTP, and the Token-Ring board through Kyocera's EcoLAN IB-4X multi-protocol networking card to support PC, NetWare, Unix, and Mac environments. Additionally, there is support for popular mini, mainframe, and desktop hardware platforms.
The FS-3600A is optimized for high-volume environments with users who demand significant cost savings along with a wide range of printing options, including duplexing, multiple paper stock printing, and optional networking configurations. Kyocera's Industrial Paper Handling (IPH) series of high-capacity paper stackers offers FS-3600A users versatility in printing card envelopes, labels, overhead projection film, and recycled paper stocks.
