Siemens U.S. sales increase slightly in first quarter to $1.59 billion; Worldwide results attain significant growth
Business Wire, Jan 24, 1995
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 24, 1995--Siemens U.S. business units posted an increase in sales of 1 percent to $1.59 billion for the first quarter of fiscal 1994/95 (10/1/94 to 12/31/94), over the corresponding 1993/1994 period, the company said today.
Last year's first quarter sales increase of 41 percent, was due largely to the fact that OSRAM SYLVANIA INC. and Siemens Nixdorf were included for the first time in Siemens' total sales figures. Additionally, the company's cardiac pacemaker activities which were sold, generated sales of more than $200 million in the United States alone.
Orders for the first quarter remained at $1.75 billion, matching the comparable 1993/94 period.
Siemens U.S. business units had approximately 46,400 employees at the end of the first quarter compared with 47,300 for the same period last year, also largely accounted for by the sale of the company's pacemaker business last September. -0-
