Polaroid introduces new line of LCD projectors and high resolution LCD panel

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 3, 1995--Polaroid Corp.'s Electronic Imaging group announced today that it has added a new line of high quality liquid crystal display (LCD) projectors and a new high resolution LCD panel to its growing family of computer imaging presentation products.

The Polaview 85, Polaview 75 and Polaview 45 LCD projectors combine the functions of an overhead projector and LCD panel in a self-contained unit for customers who want to deliver presentations directly from their personal computer or portable notebook computer. The new projectors feature a unique low profile design that eliminates viewing obstruction during presentations. Specially designed to be compact and rugged, the Polaview LCD projectors are portable and perfect for delivering presentations on the road.

Polaroid also introduced a new high resolution LCD panel, which works with most standard overhead projectors. The Polaview HR 2500 LCD panel projects images at 1024 x 768 resolution and provides full-color support with a palette of 16.7 million colors, allowing images to be reproduced with great accuracy. The HR 2500 is specifically designed for applications that require fine-line imaging, such as CAD/CAM, engineering, and medical presentations. The HR 2500, which joins Polaroid's existing line of LCD panels, has a suggested list price of $12,995.

Polaview 85

The Polaview 85 is a full-feature active matrix projector for high quality multimedia presentations. Designed for use in most lighting situations, the Polaview 85 has a tungsten halogen lamp that projects 2 million colors from a 16.7 million color palette to project exceptionally bright, full-color images. The Polaview 85 has integrated video and audio capabilities to produce multimedia presentations. The suggested list price for the Polaview 85 is $8,995.

Polaview 75

The Polaview 75 is Polaroid's best data-only LCD projector and comes complete with 2 million color support, active matrix technology and superb image quality. Ideal for presentation and work group applications, the Polaview 75 supports video through an optional video adapter. The suggested list price for the Polaview 75 is $7,995.

Polaview 45

The Polaview 45 is Polaroid's most affordable high performance data-only LCD projector. It features 24,389 color support and color-stripe passive matrix technology. The Polaview 45 is ideal for work groups, training and educational applications. Its suggested list price is $4,995.

Each new Polaroid LCD projector comes with a programmable remote control and has an optional interactive, cordless pointer that allows presenters to control their computer directly from the screen.

The new projectors are the result of a marketing partnership between Polaroid and Proxima Corp., of San Diego, which manufactures the product.
