Business Wire, Jan 3, 1995
ISLANDIA, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--January 3, 1995--Optimized for PowerPC's RISC architecture, Computer Associates' CA-Cricket Graph III is now shipping in a new version that takes advantage of the PowerPC's speed and performance. A native PowerPC version of CA-Cricket Draw III will be released later this year.
"The native Power Mac release of CA-Cricket Graph III 1.53 takes advantage of the enhanced power, performance, and mathematical capabilities of PowerPC technology," said Bruce Salkovitz, Macintosh product analyst at Computer Associates. "This is great news for CA-Cricket Graph III users, many of whom already use the program for sophisticated technical, research, educational and scientific graphing."
CA-Cricket Graph III features comprehensive data entry, import and manipulation in an easy-to-use data window. Advanced functions include binomial and moving-average data smoothing, sophisticated curve fitting, and error bars. Graph customization and fine tuning are achieved through a simple double-click on a graph element. CA-Cricket Graph III also provides a large assortment of ready-to-use graph formats for quick production of professional quality graphs.
In addition to native PowerPC support, CA-Cricket Draw III 3.0 includes the addition of layers, a library palette, the ability to open and edit Adobe Illustrator88 files, TIFF import, PANTONE 3000 color palette and QuickTime support, and interruptable redraw. "We've also energized CA-Cricket Draw III 3.0 by incorporating an easy way to create object-oriented cel animation to support multimedia," said Salkovitz. CA-Cricket Draw III 3.0 is scheduled to ship in the first half of 1995.
CA-Cricket Graph III 1.53 is available through distributors and retailers for a suggested retail price of $129. For the Power Macintosh, 4.5 Mb of available RAM is recommended. For a Macintosh SE or better, it requires a hard drive and System 6.0.8 or later with 4 Mb of available RAM. Registered users may upgrade by contacting CA at (800) 225-5224.
Native PowerPC versions of CA-Cricket Graph III and CA-Cricket Draw III are being demonstrated at this week's Macworld Expo, January 4 - 7, at San Francisco's Moscone Convention Center, booth 4168.
