Pacific Bell elects Betsy Bernard vice president of business marketing

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 30, 1995--Pacific Bell's Board of Directors today announced that Betsy Bernard, formerly vice president of customer service - data communications services for AT&T, will become vice president of business marketing, effective April 1. Bernard, 39, replaces Lee Bauman, who is appointed to the new position of vice president - local competition. During her 18 years at AT&T, Bernard held numerous positions, including vice president of business network sales from 1991 - 1994 and vice president of product management - general business systems from 1990 -1991. She became vice president of customer service in 1994.
Bernard holds a master of science degree in management from Stanford University, 1988; a master of business administration degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University, 1983; and a bachelor of arts degree in political science from St. Lawrence University, 1976.
"This announcement is another signal to the marketplace that we mean to compete and compete successfully," said Pacific Bell President Dave Dorman. "Ms. Bernard has risen in the ranks during a time that AT&T faced intense competition. She brings into our company sharply honed competitive skills which will make our already strong management team even stronger."
As part of its strategy to lead in a highly competitive industry, Pacific Bell has brought in two other executives from the competition recently. Dave Dorman came to Pacific Bell in 1994 from Sprint Corporation where he held the title of president of business services. Michael J. Fitzpatrick, formerly president and CEO of Network Systems Corporation, came to Pacific Bell in 1993 as executive vice president of statewide markets. He is now president and CEO of Pacific Telesis Enterprises and Pacific Bell Enterprises. Pacific Bell is a subsidiary of Pacific Telesis Group, a diversified telecommunications corporation headquartered in San Francisco.
