Sensormatic acquires Glen Industrial Communications Inc., premier electronic security systems integrator

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 5, 1995-- Sensormatic Electronics Corp. (NYSE:SRM), the world leader in electronic security Thursday announced that it has acquired Glen Industrial Communications Inc. (GIC), a privately held systems integrator headquartered in Rockville, Md.
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
A premier systems integrator in the electronic security industry, GIC has particular expertise in access control closed circuit television (CCTV) and alarm management. GIC's products are sold and installed throughout the Northeast with a particularly strong presence in the Washington, D.C. market.
The company has a solid customer base, including MCI, Booze Allen, The World Bank and Rockwell International.
Commenting on the acquisition, Terry W. Price, group vice president, Sensormatic Electronics Corp., said, "The acquisition of GIC, which will be merged into our Commercial/Industrial division, is expected to add important critical mass to our direct sales and service business unit."
"Sensormatic's objective of industry leadership will be achieved by supporting both direct and indirect distribution channels to the market. We have recently strengthened our dealer/distributor network through the acquisitions of Software House and Robot Research, as well as the expansion of American Dynamic's full product line."
Price went on to say that Sensormatic will continue to strengthen and grow both distribution channels to expand reach and achieve maximum market penetration.
