Business Wire, July 13, 1995
BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 13, 1995--eShop Inc. announced a series of strategic agreements today at the Interactive Services Association 10th annual conference and exhibition.
Merchants Choose eShop
On the merchant front, the San Mateo, Calif., software developer (http://www.eshop.com) announced four major U.S. merchants -- Spiegel, Tower Records, 1-800-FLOWERS and The Good Guys -- that are working with eShop to launch innovative on-line stores. Using eShop Technology, the world's first start-to-finish solution for on-line merchandising and shopping, the merchants will develop and operate "electronic shops" that provide distinctive and compelling shopping experiences for customers.
"The eShop platform affords us flexibility and control over all aspects of our on-line product offerings," says Randy Heiple, advertising production director for Spiegel. "A turnkey system, it provides us a readily available infrastructure allowing us to focus on what's most important to us -- merchandising our products."
Netscape Works with eShop
eShop announced a relationship with Netscape Communications to ensure that eShop's on-line shopping software works seamlessly with Netscape Navigator, the world's most popular Web browser. In addition, the two companies will work together to distribute eShop shopping software to Netscape customers.
"As a leading provider of software for the World Wide Web, our relationship with eShop is a natural," says Mike Homer, Netscape vice president of marketing. "eShop Technology makes superb use of the Netscape platform and provides an innovative and exciting shopping environment for Web users."
GE Capital Agreement
On the commercial front, eShop announced an agreement with GE Capital Commercial Equipment Financing (CEF). eShop will host a nationwide business-to-business network for GE Capital CEF.
The business-to-business network will be managed and marketed by GE Capital CEF, hosted and operated on the eShop Mall Hosting Platform.
"With the eShop Mall Hosting Platform, we are able to help GE Capital CEF move from concept to deployment in only nine months," says Kurt Buecheler, director of business development at eShop.
