HP and TPS to deliver new generation of communications services; TPS newest member of HP Enhanced Services Developer Program
Business Wire, July 17, 1995
PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 17, 1995--Hewlett-Packard Company and Telecommunications Premium Services (TPS) today announced they will deliver an extensive offering of next-generation value-added communication services -- including single number, find me, caller screening, universal messaging, managed fax and a "cardless" calling card -- for telecommunications carriers and service providers.
HP also announced that TPS is a member of HP's Enhanced Services Developer's Program and will engage in joint marketing activities to deliver a suite of personal-communications-services software for HP's telecommunications platform.
These communications services are available via the TPS product, a commercially deployed, fully integrated multimedia host environment that enables any communication network to deliver scaleable, enhanced communications services. The TPS offering is based on modular service-development capabilities that focus on the human factors of telephony protocol, resulting in a major enhancement to currently available telecommunications services for both wired and wireless subscribers.
"We are pleased to introduce Telecommunications Premium Services as a new HP solutions provider," said Andre Meyer, general manager of HP's Telecommunications Systems Business Unit. "Together, on top of our leading PA-RISC(1) servers, we will deliver a set of valuable, turnkey enhanced services to telecommunications equipment vendors as well as telecommunications operators."
"Uniting the TPS services with HP's internationally accepted telecommunications platforms will deliver new, previously unavailable network services to wired and wireless network operators and service providers internationally," said Ian McKenzie, chairman of TPS. "These services will enable them to attract and retain important customers; to differentiate their product offerings, even to an individual subscriber;, and to generate additional traffic and revenue from their networks.
HP manufactures and markets a wide range of telecommunications products. All are based on a common open-systems architecture as well as on HP's robust UNIX(R) system-based operating system. HP-UX(2) runs on all HP 9000 Series systems based on the HP PA-RISC processor.
TPS, with operating subsidiaries in the United States and United Kingdom, is developing, producing and marketing enhanced communications services that run on stand-alone, computer-based telephony systems for wired and wireless communications companies and service providers. Personal communications services that are currently available include The Personal Assistant, the firm's marquee single number service, which integrates multiple media, find me, caller screening, universal messaging, calling card and an extensive range of notification services.
