Adobe Magazine Launches 1995 Design Contest; Prizes Include $10,000, Hardware and Software; Winning Entries to be Showcased in December Issue

Business Wire, July 18, 1995

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 18, 1995--(NASDAQ: ADBE) Adobe Magazine, a leading graphic-design and publishing magazine published by Adobe Systems Incorporated, is now accepting entries for its 1995 Design Contest. The contest, now in its fifth year, draws work from top graphic designers worldwide. Winning entries will be showcased in the magazine's special Design Contest issue, published in December 1995. To qualify for the contest, submissions must have been principally created using Adobe software, which includes Adobe Photoshop, Adobe PageMaker, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premiere and Adobe Persuasion.

The 1995 Adobe Magazine Design Contest is cosponsored by Adobe, Agfa, Fantazia Concepts, 3M, and Wacom Technologies. The "Best of Show" prize consists of $7,500 and prizes worth more than $20,000, including the 3M Rainbow Brand Color Proofing System; 50 Fantazia Concepts clip-art; an Agfa StudioScan II flatbed scanner; and a Wacom ArtZ Graphics Tablet.

"Our yearly design contest is an exciting event for us," said Nicholas H. Allison, editor-in-chief of Adobe Magazine. "It gives us the opportunity to see the best work being created by our readers -- designers and artists using Adobe software products -- and to feature a lot of very innovative work to the design community worldwide."

The Runner Up entry receives $2,500 in cash. In addition, the winner in each of the contest's 28 categories receives his or her choice of any Adobe software product retailing at up to $895, including Adobe PageMaker, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premiere, and Adobe Acrobat.

The winners and runners-up in each category also benefit from invaluable exposure to the design community. Adobe Magazine's circulation of more than 300,000 copies -- each of which is read by an average of two people -- means that the December issue will be read by more than 600,000 people.

The entry fee for the 1995 Adobe Magazine Design Contest is $25 per entry, with a submission deadline of August 11, 1995. The contest's official Call for Entries, which contains details and an entry form, was published in the May/June and July/August issues of Adobe Magazine, and can also be obtained electronically or via fax:

-- Electronic copies are available in Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF) on Adobe's World-Wide Web site (at http://www.adobe.com -- click the "What's New" button), in the Adobe forums on CompuServe and America Online, and at Adobe's BBS (206-623-6984).

-- Fax copies can be obtained by calling FaxYI, Adobe's free fax-information line, at (206) 628-5737, and requesting document 95.
