Business Wire, July 19, 1995
FEDERAL WAY, Wash. and SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 19, 1995--Fujitsu Open Systems Solutions, Inc., a software subsidiary of Fujitsu Ltd. today entered into a major strategic technology alliance with Syntax, Inc. of Federal Way, Wash. This technology alliance will help ease and centralize management and administration of large and/or "complex" heterogeneous computer LANS. The first product, TotalNET Administration and Management Server (TAMS) is scheduled for release in early Fall of 1995.
The scope of the alliance includes the joint development, marketing and support for a suite of new products aimed at giving IS administrators immediate access to configuration and status over an entire heterogeneous network -- facilitating rapid user support, increased utility and organization, and lower costs of network ownership to the enterprise.
"Syntax recognizes the growing costs associated with managing and administering complex networks," said Roger Franklin, president of Syntax. "The alliance with Fujitsu is a critical first step in our TAMS product development process to define and build tools which efficiently address this growing customer requirement."
"Fujitsu chose Syntax as a partner because they are a major software supplier to the enterprise networking market and we felt their products are best in their class," said Shunpei Fukushima, vice president of Fujitsu OSSI. "This partnership allows Fujitsu to take another important step toward developing a full software presence in the U.S. Market." Fukushima added that Fujitsu's strategy is to leverage the experience of "Best of Breed" partners such as Syntax, thus enhancing both companies' presence in the U.S. software market.
"Fujitsu's expertise in producing leading-edge network management tools, combined with Syntax's ability to administer the network, will culminate in products which best benefit the customer," added Franklin.
This is the second strategic alliance partnership with a major software vendor for Fujitsu in recent weeks. On June 14, 1995, the company announced an alliance with Computer Associates regarding object database management technology. This is the largest ever American/Japanese software venture.
