Apple Bundles Cypress Research Corporation's MegaPhone Smart Telephone Software with Its Newest Line of Macintosh Performa Desktop Computers

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 21, 1995--Cypress Research Corporation today announced that Apple Computer, Inc. is bundling a version of its MegaPhone(TM) screen-based telephone software with the Macintosh(R) Performa(R) 5200CD and 6200CD series desktop computers.

Using Global Village Communications, Inc.'s voice-capable TelePort Gold(TM) IIv internal telecommunications card bundled with the Macintosh Performa line, MegaPhone for Performa offers users advanced telephony features such as a full-duplex speakerphone, digital answering machine, and automatic arbitration between incoming voice and fax calls.

Targeted for home and home office users, MegaPhone for Performa is designed to streamline and automate mundane tasks related to using the telephone. Users can quickly and easily place and receive calls directly from their desktop and access other high-end features with the click of a mouse. MegaPhone for Performa incorporates a state-of-the-art full duplex speakerphone, contacts manager, digital answering machine, drag and drop dialing, easy dialing from the keyboard, support for Apple events, Call Timer, and Do Not Disturb.

Upgrades to the version of MegaPhone are available directly from Cypress for $49.95.

MegaPhone for Performa is preinstalled on the Macintosh Performa 5200CD and Macintosh Performa 6200CD series with the Global Village TelePort IIv internal fax modem with voice capability. For Power Macintosh and AV Macintosh customers, Apple also bundles a 30-day trial version of MegaPhone with its GeoPort(TM) Telecom Adapter Kit.
