Eicon Technology, AT&T GIS sign OEM pact to provide wide-area connectivity for client/server enterprises
Business Wire, July 24, 1995
DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 24, 1995--Eicon Technology and AT&T GIS have announced an OEM agreement under which Eicon's WAN Services for Windows NT software will be bundled with all AT&T GIS server-class products for Windows NT. The agreement makes Eicon the sole provider of WAN connectivity software for AT&T GIS Windows NT servers.
The inclusion of Eicon's WAN Services for Windows NT software will enhance the strengths of AT&T GIS servers by enabling them to provide LAN-to-LAN internetworking; messaging and workgroup computing; access to information sources such as legacy host systems, on-line services and database servers; and Internet access.
The agreement also calls for AT&T to sell the EiconCard, the high-speed intelligent co-processor server card required to operate the WAN Services for Windows NT software.
"Bundling Eicon's WAN Services for Windows NT is consistent with our leadership in offering enterprise solutions for our customers," said James E. Clark, vice president, AT&T GIS Software and Communications Solutions. "Eicon's open connectivity and integration with existing systems contributes directly to the overall value contained in our servers."
Guy Hoffman, Eicon vice president of worldwide marketing, said, "The agreement was designed to address the rapid proliferation of client/server technology across distributed computing environments, which has placed unprecedented importance on the WAN. With Eicon's commitment to open architecture, scalability and industry standards, customers can be assured that AT&T GIS Windows NT servers will provide internetworking and interoperability for enterprise-wide connectivity today, and will accommodate growth and changing needs in the future."
