Business Wire, June 20, 1995
BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 20, 1995--Timeline Inc., (NASDAQ: TMLN), and Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT) today announced a technology agreement to jointly develop functionality that will be included in a yet to be announced Microsoft product targeted at small and home business users.
"Timeline is very excited that Microsoft chose us as their technology provider for its new product offering," said John Calahan, CEO and founder of Timeline. "We have entered a relationship with Microsoft which, without discussing specifics, will provide future Microsoft customers a very strong complement of existing Timeline technology within a Microsoft Windows framework."
"We are very pleased to be collaborating with Timeline on this project. Our objective was to work with a company that has a track record in providing great technology and an understanding of business practices," commented Tim Lebel, group product manager, Microsoft Corp.
Details of the agreement and specifics on the Microsoft product are confidential. Timeline has disclosed, however, that it will bring to market complementary products under its own label during the same time frame. "While the one-time licensing revenue will not be material based on our fiscal 1995 results, this agreement will be meaningful for us in terms of market awareness and position," Owen Carton, Timeline's vice president of marketing, said.
Timeline develops and markets relational financial and management reporting software, designed for users needing sophisticated reporting and analysis tools. Headquartered in Bellevue, Timeline completed its initial public offering of stock in January 1995.
Founded in 1975, Microsoft is the worldwide leader in software for personal computers. The company offers a wide range of products and services for business and personal use, each designed with the mission of making it easier and more enjoyable for people to take advantage of the full power of personal computing every day. -0-
