State Street Boston names new director

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 21, 1995--State Street Boston Corp. announced the election of Arthur L. Goldstein, chairman and chief executive officer of Ionics Inc., to its board of directors and to the board of its principal subsidiary, State Street Bank and Trust Co.
Goldstein joined Ionics in 1960. Headquartered in Watertown, Mass., Ionics is a leading international, publicly-owned company involved in the purification, treatment and supply of water and other liquids.
Goldstein is the holder of eight U.S. patents in areas relating to the purification and processing of liquids. He received a B.S. degree in chemical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a master's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Delaware and an MBA from Harvard University.
Goldstein is a director of Unitrode Corp., J.F. White Contracting Co., and Jobs for Massachusetts Inc. He is a member of the Visiting Committees at the Harvard Business School and the Harvard School of Public Health, and is a trustee of the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization Inc., the French Library and Cultural Center Inc. and an Overseer of the Boston Museum of Science. Goldstein Serves on the Executive Committee of CEOs for Fundamental Change in Education and on the Executive Council of the Inner-City Scholarship Fund. He also is a former chairman of the Massachusetts High Technology Council and continues to serve as a director and a member of its executive committee.
