LOS ALTOS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 22, 1995--InfoExpress announced today that GTE Mobilnet has launched an on-line service in California for their wireless customers based on client software, servers, and news services from InfoExpress.
Called GTE Mobilnet InfoManager, the service will provide mobile professionals with customized news, Internet e-mail with file attachments, and stock quotes. GTE Mobilnet customers will pay for GTE Mobilnet InfoManager as part of their total monthly cellular bill.
"GTE Mobilnet has established a leadership position by becoming the first cellular carrier to offer an information service," said Ben Kahrnoff, vice president and general manager of GTE Mobilnet California. "By teaming with InfoExpress for the software and information servers, GTE Mobilnet can provide a one stop solution for our customers' wireless connectivity and information needs."
InfoExpress offers InfoManager to other companies and service providers as well. "Developing a sophisticated on-line service like InfoManager is a significant effort," said Stacey Lum, president of InfoExpress. "By partnering with InfoExpress, companies can offer branded, value added network services without dedicating the tremendous resources to develop the software, operate the servers, and provide the content."
