Business Wire, June 27, 1995

WIESBADEN, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 27, 1995--Motorola Wireless Data Group's European Operations announced today that it is shipping in the Belgian, Dutch and UK markets a client-server software product which wirelessly extends Lotus(R) cc:Mail(TM) Mobile for Windows. The add-on software, called AirMobile(TM) Wireless Software for Lotus cc:Mail, enables laptop users, equipped with a wireless modem and Lotus cc:Mail Mobile, to wirelessly access their corporate cc:Mail server. THe product makes no changes to cc:Mail Mobile's award-winning user interface.

AirMobile software for cc:Mail supports the RAM Mobile Data Networks in Belgium, The Netherlands and the United Kingdom. The product was introduced earlier this month in the U.S. for both the ARDIS (Motorola's DataTAC(TM) system) and RAM Mobile Data (Ericsson's Mobitex), both wireless wide-area packet data networks.

``The AirMobile wireless software is a very welcome addition to Lotus' anytime, anywhere communications offerings,'' said Mark Trenfield, Europe, Middle East and Africa Product Marketing manager for Lotus Messaging Products.

``We are very pleased to provide Lotus cc:Mail Mobile users in Belgium, The Netherlands and UK the option to work wirelessly,'' said Hans Fluegel, director of European Operations, Motorola Wireless Data Group. ``We look forward to delivering this truly seamless wireless communications solution to all the wireless packet data networks in the rest of Europe, where we are currently identifying, with Lotus' and the carriers' help, the best distribution channel organizations.''

An extension to Lotus cc:Mail Mobile, the AirMobile software enables remote users to exchange messages and files over wireless wide-area networks. The product provides the flexibility needed to support a mobile sales force, work-at-home employees, traveling executives and others who need to keep in constant contact.

The AirMobile Wireless Software for cc:Mail product uses wireless middleware optimized for mobile applications. The middleware provides additional capabilities to cc:Mail Mobile, including server-based filters, giving mobile users the ability to download partial messages, such as only a cover note while leaving lengthy file attachments on the server; and intelligent message delivery, which lets users have certain messages sent to them immediately without their needing to check for e-mail.

The AirMobile Wireless for cc:Mail software supports the Motorola InfoTAC(TM) and Ericsson Mobidem(TM) wireless modems.

``The AirMobile product provides the cc:Mail users of the RAM network with a truly effective wireless communication solution. It is transparent to the end-users, providing them real-time access to their preferred electronic mail applications,'' said John Barton, managing director of RAM Mobile Data Belgium.

``The AirMobile software is an application extension which truly offers great benefits for the wireless email user. It optimizes performance and minimizes costs. But, even greater, it's the feeling that you're working on the LAN,'' said Marc Kuiken, director of Wireless Messaging, RAM Mobile Data, The Netherlands.

Paul Shapira, RAM Mobile Data Ltd's Distribution Marketing director, added that ``for the first time mobile workers will be able to use wireless e-mail as if they were on a LAN. Mail will be sent and received as it is created, enabling managers to really `manage' their workers by pushing out vital information as it happens.''
