Unisys wins Florida Housing Finance Agency Contract; Identitech provides workflow software solution

Business Wire, June 30, 1995

MELBOURNE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 30, 1995--Looking to dramatically improve operational efficiency, the Florida Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) awarded Unisys, one of the world's top five providers of information services, a contract to provide a fully integrated electronic data management system.

The system offers the FHFA, located in Tallahassee, Fla., 21st century capabilities in the areas of client/server technology, imaging, document management, and workflow processing.

Identitech will assist Unisys in providing the FHFA with its technology and professional services requirements. The solution provided by Unisys and Identitech should decrease response times to candidates seeking housing, improve workload situations for the FHFA, and improve customer satisfaction levels. One of the greatest advantages of the Unisys contract is the promotion of FHFA self sufficiency in the development of image-enabled workflow processes for the automation of existing and future processes.

"The agency is excited to partner with the Unisys team for the development of the imaging solution," says Ann Horrigan-Filloon, chief financial officer, FHFA. "The foundation for our solution is Identitech's award-winning software toolkit, FYIEnterprise," says John Havriluk, Jr., senior manager, business development, Worldwide Information Services, Unisys Corporation. "This software allows trained users to implement and manage their own document management and workflow systems without the need for custom programming. Once trained, FHFA system administrators can create, maintain, and modify new applications themselves and build workflow processes with minimal to no support required from the system's integrator."

Once defined, entire applications can be created, tested, and implemented in days instead of months (as most systems require). Since FYIEnterprise allows FHFA personnel the ability to create and maintain all their own applications, Unisys and Identitech will train the agency's staff who will serve as system administrators, working side by side with staff members to implement the database design and workflow processes. Comprehensive in-house training and development allows the initial prototype system to be created and tested at the customer site before wide-scale implementation. The agreement also provides for on-going training support for both new and existing users.

On-site support will be available during the project to guide and assist the agency in implementation. This approach will assure training in a true hands-on environment so that system administrators will be able to implement and maintain functional areas. This also will allow new functional areas to be added and new workflow processes to be designed at any time in the future by an experienced and well-trained FHFA staff.

Identitech's FYIEnterprise solution will provide the FHFA with a powerful and highly sophisticated electronic data management system that includes not only imaging functionality for scanning, storing, and retrieving raster images, but also the ability to store all other document types created by the agencys Windows(tm) applications. "Part of the software's beauty is that it is a tool that creates document management and workflow systems in a standard Windows(tm) point-and-click graphical environment without requiring any programming," notes Paul Singleton, vice president of marketing, Identitech.

One of the software's four modules, FYIAllView, is a multimedia viewer that allows users to see any document type in one window, annotate and redline that document, and print or fax multimedia documents simply by dragging and dropping them onto the printer icon on the user's desktop screen.

This document archival system includes the award-winning workflow module, FYIFloWorks, which allows users to route multimedia documents using predefined routes or by creating ad-hoc routing paths. FYIFloWorks supports electronic signature functionality, as well as powerful security and audit trails. In addition to FYIEnterprise, the FHFA contract calls for two Unisys object servers, one fax server, two juke boxes, one standalone optical disk drive, four scan stations, four scanners, 10 index monitors, one print server, two printer accelerator cards, comprehensive user training, database development, and project management implementation. An additional object server PC is included as a hot spare if either of the other two production object servers systems fail.

Initial system implementation is scheduled to begin in July. -0-
